The mysterious Dr. Talos takes a few steps back and seems to vanish into darkness, or perhaps the characters’ attention was somehow diverted for a split second as he made his exit? Either way, Dr. Talos is gone, but his “pets” most definitely remain.
Sensing a rapid deterioration in their situation, most of the party scrambles to the top of the parked delivery truck outside Vangelos’ lab. Only Murphy and Simmons remain on the ground as they attempt to break into and hotwire the vehicle. To the dismay of those on the roof, Dr. Talos’ “dogs” turn out to be rather good climbers. This owes mostly to the fact that they have human hands instead of paws. Not the weirdest thing they’ve seen so far, but still pretty creepy.
Fortunately for the characters some of the dogs are also attacking members of the Dead-Eye gang that have shown up along with their leader, Anton Mirova. They fight off the bites and claws of the animals making effective use of the tasers while Murphy and Simmons hastily try and get the truck started. Soon enough, however, they too are under attack to and have to abandon their efforts.
Several of the Dead-Eye gang seem to be running away after encountering the dog called Phobos, meanwhile the dog Janus seems to be able to clone itself. The Dead-Eyes and the characters fight on, but can’t help but notice the white Husky that arrived with Dr. Talos – the only normal looking dog - has made no aggressive maneuvers, and instead simply sits watches the battle unfold.
The characters manage to retreat back into Vangelos’ lab pursued by the dogs Mimas and Atlas. They manage to kill both creatures outside the lab door and pause to catch their breath. Outside, past the broken glass of the vandalized truck, the alley now seems quiet.
If this were any other game, that might be a good thing.
